Tibetan medical and
Astro College was incepted in June 2, 1961. Its main aim is to preserve the rich
and ancient traditional Tibetan medicine and Astro. Science and impart the knowledge
to the younger generations. Admission:
The admission for the college is on merit basis and a new batch of students
is selected after every five years. Prerequisite:
Since all classes are taught in Tibetan, good command in the Tibetan language
is a prerequisite. How Students Pay:
Most students are sponsored by individuals or Tibet support groups, as well as
by the Tibetan government. Degree and Internship
: Students studying traditional medicine attain a five-year Kachupa
degree or Bachelor of Traditional Tibetan Medicine and Surgery while students
studying Astrological Sciences attain a five-year Tsipa Kachupa degree
or Bachelor of Traditional Tibetan Astronomy and Astrology. After completing five-year
courses in these fields one has to go for internship for a period of one year.
Reserved Seats: Three seats are
reserved for the new arrivals from Tibet, three seats for monks/nuns, three seats
for the pupil from the Himalayan regions and one seat for foreigners.
Present Students: Currently, we have 51 medical
students and 7 Astrology Students studying in the college. Please note
